BOBTR Christian Grave 10 Year Anniversary
In the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, Lee Martinez visits his brother Christian's grave ten years to the day after he died from injuries sustained in a car accident, Saturday, April 11, 2020 at Assumption Cemetery in Austin, Texas. Christian's mother and her husband Vidal, an old friend from Booker T Miguel Guevara and his girlfriend Maggie, and Demetria Acevedo and her 14-year-old daughter Sasha also stopped by.
Lee was also in the car accident that killed his brother and spent several days in a coma before fully recovering. He brought a portable speaker and listened and quietly sang along to rap music that his brother would have liked, such as the song "Boss Up" by Money Man, while he carefully pulled up grass to make a cross and an "02" in the dirt. He also carefully placed sticks on the ground to spell out his own name, "LEE" and "MISS U."
When I asked him what he was thinking about, Lee replied, "I don't even know how to process my thoughts right now." Maricela told me that she was glad he wasn't drinking, as he normally does on the anniversary.
